Mandalas are a beautiful tool to use with children because they can enter their inner world in a creative way ...

The word mandala is a Sanskrit term that means “circle”. A mandala is a circular structure with a design that radiates out symmetrically from a unifying centre. It is one of nature’s most perfect configurations.

You can see mandala patterns in natural objects from the radiating petals of a flower to tree rings, spiderwebs, seashells, crystals and more. And while they are beautiful, there is a deeper meaning in the mandala that you can introduce to your child. The mandala’s pattern can be interpreted as a model for how our lives are structured -  a type of cosmic diagram. It is both the microcosm and the macrocosm, and we are all part of its intricate design.

BENEFITS:
Mandalas are an incredible too to use with children because they are able to express themselves artistically while learning to self-soothe.  Below are some amazing benefits for using mandalas with kids:
  • Gives kids a space to put their thoughts and feelings
  • Allows kids to express their unconscious processes in a safe space
  • Painting and focusing on a mandala is calming
  • Creating mandalas helps to calm the mind and quiet negative thoughts
  • Helps lower blood pressure and relax muscle tension (Malchiodi, 2003)
  • Helps kids develop insight and personal awareness
  • Increases focus and
  • Stimulates creativity
  • Decreases impulsive behavior

Aside from sharing with children the beautiful art of mandala painting, a big part of this program is to introduce and have children understand and practice mindfulness.
Classes are offered publicly and within schools!

I also offer mindfulness programming in schools, with over a decade of experience.
