About

Soul Stones Studio began with a single stone.
It was left anonymously on my front porch during the beginning of the Covid 19 pandemic. On that rock was one word - "HOPE". It was powerful and a true gift of kindness. It was my inspiration and 3 months later, Soul Stones Studio was born.
But when I reflect, the seeds really were planted many moons ago. I have been collecting stones all my life, from all over the globe. One of my favourite toys as a child was a "pet rock" in a matchbox. Remember those?! For many years I had always wanted to begin stone painting and those ones I had seen that were filled with the energy of colourful mandalas always drew me in. Dots. Circles. Lots of them.
People often ask me why my interest in mandalas specifically? I have always been drawn to the sacred circle but the spark was really ignited several years ago during a trip to northern India, to the Himalayas, to a town called McCleod Ganj, the home of the Dalia Lama. I was so intrigued by the beautiful, intricate and deeply soulful mandalas the Tibetan monks there were creating. I had never seen anything so beautiful before and I spent hours deciding which one I wanted to bring home.
I am a yoga teacher and a children mindfulness educator. A big draw to this work is the process … working with mandalas is a meditation. It is a practice in mindfulness.
The mandala is about the journey to the center. It is a symbol that signifies wholeness and inner transformation. The mandala is a symbol with unlimited potential - it is a spiritual map to help guide us back to our natural state.
Importantly, a portion of the proceeds from the stones will be used to help build children's yoga and mindfulness programming in under-funded elementary schools. I am a certified yoga teacher and children's mindfulness educator and have been bringing these important programs to schools for almost a decade. But there are many schools across our Ottawa district that simply cannot afford this type of programming, so it is my goal to put these practices in the laps of ALL school kids, not just those that are fortunate to attend a school with an active parent council.
