About
Soul Stones Studio began with a love of both natural stones - and the sacred circle - the Mandala.
Mandalas have a long, beautiful history and are recognized for their deep spiritual meaning. They are a representation of our inner reflection and our connection to the universe, and the circles of family, friends and community. The symbolism resonates deeply with me.
I have been collecting stones all my life, from all over the globe, and as a child, on the beaches of my birth country, New Zealand. I always felt the energy of stones, how they carry years of wisdom in their journeys to reach us.
A spark was ignited several years ago during a trip to northern India, to the Himalayas, to a town called McCleod Ganj, the home of the Dalia Lama. I was so intrigued by the beautiful, intricate and deeply soulful mandalas the Tibetan monks there were creating. I had never seen anything so beautiful before. Seeds were planted!
The first few years of Soul Stones Studio was spent working solely on stones. I then ventured into the world of painting mandalas on round wooden panels and canvas. The first commission I did was a 40 inch piece. The response I received was overwhelming and since then I have created many beautiful mandala panels, and mandala mirrors - of all sizes from 7 to 44 inches.
I am also a yoga teacher and a children’s mindfulness educator. I work in public and private schools, delivering mindfulness education programs to all grades. More info here. This is also a passion of mine. I recently even delivered a mandala and mindfulness program for elementary children - to great success! So with my background in mindfulness and meditation - naturally a big draw to this work is the process … working with mandalas is a meditation. It is a practice in mindfulness.
I also host both public and private Creative Mindfulness Art workshops in and around the Ottawa area and feel so honoured to introduce others to this incredibly healing and expansive art form.
When not happily dotting in my home studio, you can find me out in the woods, or by the water – anywhere where it is silent and nature rich. I also have a love for all things of the spirit, and live knowing that our own self-realization is the greatest service we can render to the world.
